Mayflower 1 Class yarn is warm wool blended with polyamide for socks in pastel and neutral shades. We have noticed that some knitters find this yarn pleasant to work with.
Will socks made with it be durable?
Yes, polyamide adds abrasion resistance during wear — a useful property for heels and toes.
Can I machine wash the socks?
Yes, wash on a wool cycle at 40 °C. Do not tumble dry.
Will it work with my sock pattern?
It depends on the yarn thickness and tension. Check these, along with the number of stitches per 10 cm and the needle size in the knitting pattern, against the specifications; you can start with 2.5–3 mm circular needles and choose a different size if the tension does not match.
Use the number of balls given in the instructions for your size; before starting, make a tension square and wash it. If the pattern calls for a different yarn thickness, compare it with other Mayflower yarns.
