Description
Product information "BC Garn Soft Silk - 001 Pure white"
BC Garn Soft Silk yarn - 100% bourette silk with a noticeable texture. Knitters often choose it for summer tops.
Which seasons is silk yarn suitable for?
Silk keeps you warm in winter and cool on a hot day, so it can be worn across different seasons. Some people use the knitted fabric in layered clothing between seasons.
Is it suitable for children’s clothing?
Yes: crafters use it to make clothes for babies and children. Some appreciate the textured yarn because it forgives small mistakes in the pattern.
How many hanks do I need for a jumper?
Check the yarn requirements in the knitting pattern for your size. Compare the thickness and tension in the specifications with the pattern; use 3–3.5 mm circular needles as a guide and choose a different size if the tension does not match.
Make a tension square and wash it to check your tension. If you need a different texture for another project, another BC Garn yarn may suit you.

BC Garn Soft Silk
I machine-knitted a T-shirt in size 40–42 with plenty of positive ease. It took 2 hanks of the main colour and about 1/3 of an additional hank for the sleeves. The T-shirt turned out warm; I'm too hot in it in the sun. It feels very pleasant against the skin. The only thing was that, because I used a knitting machine, I couldn't remove the bits of grass as I worked, and after the first wash the T-shirt felt prickly. I inspected it carefully and removed them from the finished garment, and then everything was great! After washing I deliberately stretched it a little while drying. The garment kept that shape and has held it for 4 months now; I haven't washed it again. The yarn has its own unusual smell. It still hasn't aired out, but I like it :)

I knitted an oversized tunic in size 50. I used 3.5 mm needles, but went right down to 2 mm for the neckline. After washing and blocking, the garment stretched widthwise, which the swatch had shown too. The swatch shrank a little, but the garment didn't shrink. I only reworked the neckline on smaller needles. The yarn is excellent and smells nice; I enjoyed knitting with it. It doesn't hold ribbing, but mine is a decorative element. I machine-washed it at 20 degrees with a 600 rpm spin.

Pleasant, soft yarn! A size 40–42 T-shirt on 3.5 mm needles took less than 2 hanks. The yarn is not elastic, smells nice and knits easily; the little flecks and slubs give the garment a special charm. The only downside was finding knots as I knitted, about 1–2 per hank.
