90% organic wool, 10% viscose · 100m · 50 g · 4.5–5.5 mm

Description

Product information "BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS - 19 Sand"

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS is a plied tweed yarn made from GOTS-certified organic wool and viscose. The wool makes the knitted fabric warm and springy, so cables and stranded colourwork stand out; it is used for jumpers, cardigans, hats and scarves.

How many balls do I need for a cardigan?

The amount depends on the size and pattern: check the number of balls in the cardigan pattern you plan to use.

Are 4.5–5.5 mm needles suitable?

Yes, 4.5–5.5 mm circular needles are suitable for this yarn. Check the yarn thickness, tension over 10 cm and needles specified in the pattern against the product specifications; if your tension differs, change needle size.

Is it easy for a beginner to use?

You can start with a simple pattern without complex stitchwork: tension affects the size of the finished garment.

For a cardigan, follow the yarn requirements in the pattern for your size. Make a tension square, hand wash it in cold water, then dry it flat; if you need a different texture for your next project, take a look at other BC Garn yarns.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

Very soft, and the shade is beautiful in person. I knitted a textured hood with it; two balls were more than enough. I'm very happy 🥰 The value for money is just right.

No drawbacks)

If I could give it a score of 10, that is what it would get! The best yarn!
Let's take it in order:
- the wool is soft and not scratchy, a perfect yarn: it doesn't break, it is strong and beautifully twisted!
- the viscose in the blend is the tweed flecks; they don't fall out and are very well spun into the wool.

The yarn holds stitch patterns beautifully: cables and Aran patterns. It stays stable in ribbing and in stockinette stitch.

It doesn't stretch or lose its shape with wear. No surprises after washing: the yarn is perfect!

I've knitted both an upper-body garment and a hat with it. I'm 100% happy. The yarn is worth every rouble.

It smells wonderful! I adore this yarn. You need at least 10 balls for an upper-body garment.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

A nicely twisted yarn, with just the right thickness. The flecks come in lovely, varied colours; there are lots of them and they are large. It knits up very quickly and glides nicely over wooden needles. The viscose actually makes the yarn a little more slippery than ordinary wool with this kind of twist. The size does not change much in the wash.

It uses quite a lot of yarn, but that is hardly surprising with this yardage. With the darker shades, a slightly pale halo sometimes emerges (I suspected the viscose in the blend, but I don't know), though the yarn itself is flecked, so it is not a big deal.

Simply the best tweed!! It's a pity there are so few shades; I want to knit everything with it.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

Low yarn consumption and wool that does not itch at all!

An incredibly easy yarn to work with. I think it is ideal for beginners: plump, and projects grow quickly. I spent a long time choosing among different wool yarns, but then I felt a Hamelton swatch in the physical shop and fell in love! The softest wool, absolutely non-itchy. After washing and blocking it became even more beautiful and did not stretch at all. A dream! And the tweed colours are gorgeous; the knitted fabric looks refined and expensive.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

A beautiful colour and an even fabric with a subtle, elegant sheen. It does not itch and feels pleasant against the skin. A reasonable price. Quick to knit. Warm without being too hot.

None.

I knitted a classic sleeveless vest in Smouldering Embers. I bought 8 balls and used 4 mm needles, as I knit more loosely than the manufacturer's recommended gauge.
I am very happy with the result.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

I bought the yarn for men's mittens in colour 16, Smouldering Embers. The colour is very beautiful. I used no more than two balls on 4 mm needles. It did not change after washing and blocking and stood up wonderfully to being unravelled and reworked several times. The yarn has a slight sheen and felt soft and non-itchy to me. I would like to make something else with it.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

I knitted a double-layer beanie in Mermaid Hair (an amazing colour), for a head circumference of 56 cm and a folded length of 23 cm. It took a little over 2 balls. Thanks to the viscose, the yarn is very soft and pleasant, with a light halo and lovely flecks. I did not expect tweed to be so gentle. It is not alpaca, of course, but this tweed does not itch at all for me. So versatile!

I knitted a stranded-colourwork hat with this yarn combined with Lana Gatto Maxi Vip. The two yarns work beautifully together. The hat has a subtle tweed effect and looks really great) Winter will be here soon, and then we can try it out)

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

I knitted a hat with the grey yarn. The thread is elastic, holds ribbing well, and neither changed colour nor stretched after washing and blocking. Very beautiful tweed flecks. For a hat with a head circumference of 54 cm, I used one and a half balls on 4.5 mm needles.

BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 1 GOTS

I bought the yarn to try it. The Denim colour is beautiful, and a hat made with it looks very interesting. But I find it quite prickly, so I would recommend that people with sensitive skin consider other options. Overall, I liked the yarn. It is fairly affordable compared with other tweeds.
