Description

Product information "BC Garn Bio Shetland GOTS - 58 Deep blue"

BC Garn Bio Shetland GOTS yarn is a fine, plied organic wool yarn for patterned knitting, with an appearance similar to Shetland yarn. It is most often used for jumpers and cardigans; some knitters praise the lightness of the finished garments.

Does it feel scratchy?

The knitted fabric has a distinctly woolly feel — for those who enjoy this texture. Knitters report that it can become noticeably softer after washing and blocking.

Is it suitable for stranded colourwork?

Yes, it is suitable for multicoloured patterns. We find that, for some knitters, the yarn catches on neighbouring stitches, making it easier to work with: a dropped stitch stays in place.

How many balls do you need for a jumper?

Choose the number of balls based on the yarn requirements in the knitting pattern, checking the length against the product specifications.

Make a tension square on 2.5–4 mm circular needles and gently hand wash it; then compare the tension with the pattern. If you need a different thickness, compare options with other BC Garn yarns.

BC Garn Bio Shetland GOTS

Hello. I ordered this yarn for a lopapeysa and am very happy with my choice. It is a little prickly at first, but becomes soft after washing. It is better to wash it 2 times; once is not enough. The colour palette is magnificent. A great pleasure to knit with. Give it a try, if only to find out what it is like)

My first experience knitting with 100% wool. The elasticity is surprising; you would not expect it from the way the yarn looks. I was delighted with the yardage: the skein seemed endless. It blooms beautifully after washing and blocking, evening out the stitches and becoming softer. It feels pleasant in my hands, but I also want to try it on a knitting machine. I can imagine this yarn in all sorts of styles, and the range of colours is inspiring!

Excellent yarn. I knitted a bodysuit for my eight-month-old baby. He wears it directly against his skin and is not bothered in the slightest that it is pure wool. I have ordered more and am knitting him an all-in-one.

A yarn for a real Russian winter!) I found it a little prickly even after washing, but for mittens knitted with 2 strands from one skein, that prickliness will only add warmth.

I bought it for mittens. They turned out soft and cosy. The yarn seemed slightly marled, which gives a lovely effect. I was pleased with the yardage: the mittens took 1 skein. That suggests a jumper would take 4 to 8 skeins, depending on the size and pattern. My next project will be a men's lopapeysa in Bio Shetland.

The yarn feels very pleasant to the touch, although it may look prickly. After washing and blocking, it becomes soft, and the stitches lie very evenly and neatly. My 10 × 5 cm swatch did not change size after washing and blocking. The yarn holds cables and stitch patterns very well.

If it had not been for the promotion with a free lopapeysa pattern, I would probably never have dared to try this yarn. It looks coarse, but washing worked magic; I had never seen anything like it! The fabric changed so much after washing and blocking that, had I not seen it with my own eyes, I would never have believed it was made from this yarn. I definitely recommend it: it is the most interesting yarn I have ever tried.

I bought 9 skeins in Cranberry for a cardigan. I knitted it with 2 strands on 5 mm needles. I am thinking of buying more of the same colour for a hat: the colour and texture are so beautiful. For a single strand, needles from 2.75 to 3.5 mm are better.
