Description
Product information "Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull - 1012 natural"
Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull is an alpaca and wool yarn for jumpers and cardigans. Alpaca gives the knitted fabric a light halo and a soft drape, while wool adds springiness.
Does it feel scratchy?
Many knitters find the yarn soft and pleasant to work with. It may be noticeable against sensitive skin, so wear the finished garment over a thin layer.
Which season is it suitable for?
It suits cooler weather: the finished Moby Sweater turned out very warm, thick and soft.
Can it be used for children's garments?
Yes, it is suitable for children's garments. Compare the yarn thickness, stitches per 10 cm and needle size in the pattern with the yarn specifications; if they differ, adjust your needle size. Start with 5 mm circular needles.
Use the yarn requirements in the knitting pattern for your size as a guide, make a tension square and compare its tension with the pattern. If you need a different fibre content for your next project, Sandnes Garn has other yarns.

Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull
I bought this yarn in red for a straight-cut child's jumper with intarsia. While knitting, I kept thinking there must be acrylic in it, though only alpaca and wool are listed. For a child's jumper in size 80–86, I used 4 balls of the main colour and a little of another colour for the design. The ribbing was not very even when worked flat, and I had to watch every stitch. Even so, the ribbing wandered in different directions. It behaves better in stockinette if you knit the stitches in the conventional way. Ribbing worked in the round is more even, but still not perfect. I cannot yet say definitively whether I like this yarn. I will try making something else with it to get a fuller impression.
