Is it suitable for cable patterns?
Yes, use it wherever the pattern calls for a cable crossing: slip the required stitches onto it and hold them in front of or behind the knitted fabric, following the pattern.
How do you use it to knit cables?
After knitting the adjacent section, knit the held stitches in the specified order, then continue the row with your main needles until the next cable crossing.
