Novita Viola Raita yarn is made from cotton and polyamide: coloured stripes form as you knit, without needing to change balls. It is used for lightweight socks and accessories.
Is one ball enough for a pair of socks?
One ball is enough for a pair, even for larger feet. The result is lightweight and less lofty than thick, warm alternatives.
Which needles should I use?
Start with 2.5–3 mm circular needles. Check the thickness and tension given in the pattern against the specifications; if they differ, choose a different needle size.
Can it be machine washed?
The yarn withstands frequent washing, but choose the machine-wash setting for the finished garment according to the care symbols on the label.
Before starting, make a tension square and check your tension, changing needles if necessary. You can use Viola for solid-colour sections, and Novita also has other yarns for these combinations.
