Description

Product information "Mayflower Birmingham - col. 007 rabe"

Mayflower Birmingham is a fine, twisted yarn made from wool, alpaca and viscose: coloured tweed flecks bring plain stocking stitch to life without complicated patterns. It is used to make jumpers, cardigans and shawls.

Does it feel scratchy?

Some knitters find it very soft. If you have sensitive skin, wear the finished garment over a thin layer.

How many balls do I need for a jumper?

Choose the number of balls according to the yarn requirements in the knitting pattern for your size.

Will it suit my pattern, and which needles should I use?

Check the yarn thickness and needles specified in your pattern against the yarn specifications: the tension of your washed tension square is what matters. Start with 2.5–3.5 mm circular needles; if your stitch count differs from the pattern's tension, try different needles.

If you would like to compare tweed with a different texture, take a look at other Mayflower yarns. Before starting, make a tension square and gently hand-wash it.
