Kremke Reborn Wool recycled is a twisted yarn made from recycled materials: wool with polyester and polyamide for jumpers and cardigans. It is easy to work with. Natural colours bring simple stocking stitch to life, and some shades have a tweed-like appearance.
Does it feel scratchy?
It is soft and pleasant to the touch, with a woolly feel: you cannot feel the synthetic fibres at all.
Which season is it suitable for?
Cold weather: the wool keeps you warm and helps cables and Aran patterns look raised and well-defined.
Can it be machine washed?
Yes, it can be machine washed, making everyday garments easier to care for.
Check the number of hanks against your chosen pattern. Before starting, wind the hank into a ball, make a tension square on 5 mm circular needles and wash it. If you prefer a smooth texture without a tweed effect, compare it with other Kremke yarns.

A very substantial yarn, environmentally friendly
A rather coarse texture
I knitted a men's hood with this yarn on 5 mm needles and used just 1 ball, despite the yarn being quite thick. In general, it is excellent for men's garments: hard-wearing and holds its shape well thanks to its dense texture.
I would say it is a matter of taste: it feels very dry, though some people like that characteristic)

A substantial yarn with a convenient weight for quick projects, a firm twist and a very strong thread. I appreciate the environmental benefits of recycled yarn, and the brand's overall approach to sustainability commands great respect. It changes little after washing, becoming slightly softer. The fabric is very stable and does not itch. It goes a long way, so at this price it is more than good value.
The recycled fibre and the fact that it is made in India have an unexpected effect: the yarn smells noticeably of both a second-hand shop and an Indian shop 😅 This is a little distracting while knitting, though it gets better after washing. A little firm and coarse, but you could consider that its style.
A good option for quick jumpers and pieces where strength and a substantial, rather than flowing, fabric are important.

The yarn thickness varies depending on the shade. It is important to keep this in mind.
One of my favourite yarns in the shop. I have already made about five tops with it and am very happy. I machine-wash the garments without worry and wear them for years. It is affordable too! 5–6 skeins are enough for a jumper.

- the yarn thickness (projects grow quickly);
- the colour palette (all the shades are lovely and rich);
- the texture (I like the uneven surface of the fabric).
- a little coarse against bare skin (I chose a V-neck style);
- pills in high-friction areas (a fabric shaver removes the pills easily).
For an oversized pullover, I used 5 skeins of Mustard and 1 skein of Malachite, on 5 mm needles.
I was very happy with the yarn and have ordered more for a vest.

Kremke Reborn Wool recycled
I knitted Reborn mittens with this yarn from a Hollywool pattern, and they turned out really well. At first the yarn felt a little coarse, but after washing and blocking it became softer and more pleasant. Yarn made from recycled clothing is a big contribution to the environment: you knit and think that you have done something good too.
