Description

Product information "BC Garn Babyalpaca 10/2 auf 50 g RAS - 44ras Moos RAS"

BC Garn Babyalpaca 10/2 auf RAS yarn is made from 100% alpaca and produces a soft, supple knitted fabric with a light halo. The fabric drapes softly rather than holding a rigid shape, making the yarn suitable for garments with a relaxed fit.

Which season is this alpaca suited to?

For the colder months: this fibre is very warm and drapes softly, making it well suited to relaxed-fit garments. It stretches less than wool, which is worth bearing in mind when choosing a pattern.

Do I need to make a tension square to get the right size?

Yes: your knitting tension affects the size, and the yarn stretches less than wool. Compare the yarn thickness, tension and needle size specified in the pattern with the product specifications; if they differ, change your needle size.

Check the yarn requirements in the knitting pattern for your size, then make a tension square and wash it. If your next project calls for a different kind of fabric, take a look at other BC Garn yarns.

BC Garn Babyalpaca 10/2 auf 50g RAS

- Incredibly soft
- A large, beautiful colour palette. Fabrics made with the marled shades are truly mesmerising; you could look at them forever

It is impossible to stop knitting with this yarn!

I used this baby alpaca to knit the ‘К себе нежно’ turtleneck on 3 mm needles in Mocha (the pattern is excellent too). I thought it would take forever because the yarn is so fine, but no: I finished it in just 2 weeks. Perhaps that was because I could not bear to put down this incredible yarn!
The turtleneck turned out very fine but warm. At the beginning, the fabric seemed a little strange and too loose, although my gauge was spot on. The key at that stage is not to switch to smaller needles, but to keep going with the same size) After washing and blocking, a delicate halo appears and the stitches become almost invisible.
I have stocked up on more of this yarn and plan to make the same piece in Cornflower Blue.

A delicate, warm, fine yarn for weightless garments

Perfect for me

An amazing yarn! Of all the alpacas I have knitted with, this is definitely the best. Yes, it has a character of its own. Use wooden needles, and choosing the right needle size is important (I knitted my triangular scarf on 3.25 mm Tulip needles; I knit tightly). At first I struggled a little, of course 😑, but as soon as we got used to each other, everything went beautifully. Anyone who has knitted with alpaca will understand 😉
It is definitely worth trying 👍

The yarn is kitten-soft) It feels lovely and is incredibly warm despite being fine. It also goes a very long way: perfect for gloves.

It splits a little while knitting

I knitted a pair of gloves with this yarn, and they turned out perfect. Warm but thin (my phone even sometimes responds through them), and excellent protection from the wind. This alpaca is the softest I have tried, with no coarse guard hairs at all, so it does not itch.

A very soft, fine yarn. I am using it to knit a jumper from a Hollywool pattern, and I really like it: soft, natural fibres and a lovely, rich shade of green.

BC Garn Babyalpaca 10/2 auf 50g RAS

I bought this yarn to hold together with a fine merino wool: on its own, the merino made a rather flimsy, loose fabric, and I wanted to add substance without too much fluff. This yarn was perfect. The blend produced exactly the effect I had hoped for. After washing and blocking, the swatches were substantial, with a delicate halo, very soft and able to hold their shape (I deliberately rubbed and crumpled them while washing), while remaining supple. The ribbing in the garment is full and rounded, although more decorative than functional. The stitches look even in both ribbing and stockinette. In short, I really liked the effect of combining the yarns. To my taste it looks more interesting than combinations with mohair, and I will use it again.

I knitted a scarf with this yarn in Ecru. It is a beautiful beige with a pinkish undertone, even prettier than in the photo. Using three full balls, about 150 grams, and 2.5 mm needles, I made a scarf 27 cm wide and 145 cm long. It has a knit-and-purl pattern, not lace. The scarf is wonderfully soft, suitable for even very sensitive skin. It keeps me beautifully warm, better than merino in my experience, without adding bulk. Drawbacks: the yarn does not hold ribbing at all, and you will not finish a project quickly with it. To repeat myself, this is an exceptionally soft yarn.
