Amano Eco Puna UNDYED Babyalpaka is an undyed yarn made from 100% alpaca, with several plies twisted together. Its light halo and soft drape work particularly well in warm garments with gently flowing knitted fabric.
Does it feel scratchy?
Alpaca is soft and has a light halo; if you have sensitive skin, wear the finished garment over a thin layer.
Will it work with my pattern, and which needles should I use?
Start with 3.5–4.0 mm circular needles. Check the yarn thickness and stitches per 10 cm in your pattern against the specifications; if the tension differs, choose a different needle size.
Which season is it suitable for?
Alpaca is very warm, so this yarn is suitable for cold-weather garments. It drapes softly and stretches less than wool: bear this in mind when choosing a design and fit.
Check the yarn requirements in the pattern for your size and buy the stated number of hanks. Before starting, wind the yarn into a ball, make a tension square and wash it by hand in cold water, then lay it flat to dry. If you need dyed yarn, choose another Amano yarn.
