    Knitting Density

Gauge: 30 stitches x 42 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch with 2.50 mm needles (after MHT).

Everyone has their own unique way of knitting: some knit tightly, while others knit more loosely. The knitting density affects the quality of the product, its appearance, and size. Before starting work, it is necessary to knit a sample swatch in the pattern that will be used for the sock. This is necessary to calculate the number of stitches and understand how this pattern will look with the chosen yarn. (For example: knit a 12 x 12 cm sample, wash it in warm water, and dry it flat. When the sample is dry, count the stitches in one row and the number of rows in a 10 x 10 cm square. This will be the knitting density. For circular knitting, the sample must be knit in the round).

    Tools

    • 2.50 mm needles on a 80 – 100 cm cable
    • Darning needle
    • Stitch markers
    • Sock blockers
    • Measuring tape (ruler)

    Construction

The socks are knitted one at a time from the cuff to the toe in the round (the work process is described for knitting with a cable needle using the MAGIC LOOP method. If you are knitting with double-pointed needles, you will need to distribute the stitches yourself).

    Patterns

    • Ribbing – 1 twisted knit st., 1 purl st.
    • Charts № 1 – 4

    Size Chart

    • Sizes: S (36-39), M (40-42)
    • Number of stitches in the cast-on row: 64 (S), 72 (M)
    • Yarn consumption, grams: 65-75 (S), 80-90 (M)

    Work Description

    1. UPPER PART OF THE SOCK (cuff/leg)

Cast on 64/72 sts + 1 st for closing in the round. Join them in the round. Distribute 32/36 stitches on each needle. Knit in the round with 1 twisted knit st * 1 purl for 12/15 rows (2.5/3 cm). After the ribbing, start knitting the leg according to CHART № 1/2.

S (64 sts) The pattern repeat consists of 32 stitches * 8 rows. The leg height is 5 repeats + 3 rows. Finish knitting the leg in the 43rd row.

M (72 sts) The pattern repeat consists of 36 stitches * 8 rows. The leg height is 6 repeats + 3 rows. Finish knitting the leg in the 51st row.

    2. Heel

    2.1 HEEL FLAP

We will knit the heel flap on the lower needle. Pull out the top needle and knit from the lower needle starting with 2 knit stitches, slip 1 stitch to the right needle without knitting, 1 knit stitch. Repeat until the last stitch, knit the last stitch purlwise.

    For all sizes:

    • PURL ROW: slip the first stitch without knitting (yarn at the back), knit all stitches purlwise, the last stitch knitwise.
    • KNIT ROW: slip the first stitch without knitting (yarn in front) 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch to the right needle without knitting. Repeat until the last stitch, knit the last stitch purlwise.

Knit 32/36 rows, there should be 16/18 edge stitches.

    2.2 HEEL CUP

Detailed row instructions for size S and M heel cup decrease rows as described in the pattern text, resulting in 20 stitches (S) or 22 stitches (M) remaining on the needle.

    3. Foot

All stitches are reintroduced into work. Markers may be placed for convenience.

    3.1 FOOT WEDGE DECREASES

Detailed instructions for foot wedge decreases for sizes S and M with exact row by row decreases and stitch counts as described in the pattern text.

    3.2 FOOT LENGTH

Continue to knit straight without decreases to the required foot length.

    • Size 36/37: 23.5 cm
    • Size 38/39: 25 cm
    • Size 40/41: 26.5 cm
    • Size 42: 27.5 cm

    4. TOE

Before knitting the toe, knit 2 rows of knit stitches. Then follow the detailed toe decrease instructions row by row for sizes S and M as described in the pattern text.

When 12 stitches remain on each needle, knit 6 knit stitches from the lower needle, redistribute stitches to 12 on each needle shifting the beginning of the round by 6 stitches. Cut the thread leaving a tail of about 20 cm. Close the remaining stitches with the Kitchener stitch. Hide tails and perform wet-heat treatment. Use Hollywool sock blockers for perfect shape.
