Construction
The sweater is knitted from the bottom up in circular rows up to the armholes. Then the stitches are divided for the front and back. Knitting continues in turning rows. The sleeves are knitted from bottom to top and then sewn to the body of the garment with a mattress stitch.
Body of the Garment
Cast on 222 (238) stitches on 35 mm needles. Join in the round and knit a setup row in rib pattern. Knit 14 more rows (total 15 rows or 5 cm) in rib. Switch to 375 mm needles and continue knitting the body in the round following the jacquard patterns specific to each size: 80 rounds (38 cm) for XS-S and 86 rounds (40 cm) for M-L.
Back and Front
From row 81 (87), distribute stitches for front and back (111 (119) stitches each). Work back and front separately following the pattern charts and shaping instructions for shoulders and neckline as detailed in the pattern.
Sleeves
Cast on 44 (50) stitches on 35 mm needles. Knit 1×1 rib for 15 rows (5 cm). Switch to 375 mm needles and increase stitches as specified for each size. Continue knitting sleeves with the Fair Isle pattern, making increases as detailed, until 120 rows or desired sleeve length. Leave stitches open.
Finishing
Join shoulders. Pick up open neckline stitches on 3.5 mm needles. Close in the round, knit first circular row in purl stitches, then knit 1×1 rib for 16 rows. Fold neckline inward and sew with false grafting technique. Attach sleeves to armholes using knitting seam. Hide all loose yarn ends.
