Knitting Instructions
Cast on 135 sts (this number includes the edge sts, the symmetry sts and 5 pattern repeats).
Row 1 (setup row): k all sts.
Row 2 and all following rows: sl1 pwise wyib, k11 (symmetry sts), work 22-st pattern rep. 6 5 according to the rep. chart, then work the last 12 symmetry sts according to the main chart, p1 (edge).
The stitch pattern is worked in flat knitting (back and forth):
- Chart Row 1 is read from right to left,
- Chart Row 2 is read from left to right; keep alternating these rows to the end of the piece.
Finishing
When the shawl has been worked to the desired length, BO all sts using any comfortable method.
Wet Blocking
Place the piece into cool water with a gentle wool wash.
Rinse the shawl carefully, squeeze out the excess water gently and lay it out flat on a towel, shaping it to the expected dimensions on a horizontal surface.
Use blocking mats and pins to fix the edges of the piece so that they do not curl.
Leave the shawl in this position until it is completely dry.
