Knitting Description

The vest is knitted from the top as one seamless piece. You can adjust the height of the collar and the length of the vest to your liking.

For working with bouclé yarn, choose needles with a blunt tip, as a sharp tip can get stuck in the curls and slow down your work. Count stitches often to avoid losing stitches; if a stitch does slip off, add a stitch from the strand anywhere—it won’t be noticeable.

Cast on 86 / 90 / 94 stitches (+1 stitch for joining in the round) on smaller-sized needles. Mark the beginning of the row and knit the collar in stockinette stitch in the round (7-10 cm). You can increase collar height as desired.

Distribute stitches for back, front, and shoulders, separated by markers. Knit several turn rows to lower the neckline for comfort. Knit 10 rows of yoke for size 40-42; 12 rows for sizes 44-46 and 48-50. Switch to larger needles and knit the setup row placing markers as raglan line and turning points.

The yoke is knitted with raglan-epaulettes increases along shoulder markers in each row, using right and left slant increases from the strand.

After finishing the yoke and setup, knit in the round dividing front and back, working straight rows and starting increases as specified per size.

When joining in the round, knit for another 25/28/30 cm or desired length, then optionally decrease every 5/5/7 cm for tapered silhouette.

Côtes

Divide garment into front and back parts, forming slits—front slit narrower. Switch to smaller needles (3 or 3.25 mm) and knit back stitches to marker, then work turning rows with a reinforced band on edges and 1×1 ribbing in center. Ribbing height is 8-10 cm. Bind off stitches using a crochet hook or needles, not tightly. Knit front similarly, optionally making it 2-3 cm shorter for front identification.

Wet Heat Treatment

Once vest is finished, use a lanolin-free detergent and cool water (not above 30°C) to gently wash the garment without rubbing or stretching. Press out water without wringing, roll in a towel to absorb water, then lay flat on a dry towel to shape and dry.
