Work process
Using the German twisted cast-on method, cast on 112 / 116 stitches + 1 stitch for joining in the round. Join the stitches in the round. Knit 40 / 42 rounds (or 12-13 cm) in 2×2 ribbing. If you prefer a snug fit, use needles 0.5 sizes smaller for the ribbing. Switch to the main needles for the pattern.
Divide the knitting into 6 sections with markers, each with 20 stitches (repeats). After the ribbing, evenly increase 8 / 4 stitches in the first round of the repeat to have 120 stitches for the main pattern.
Pattern repeat
Knit 4 repeats upwards (hat height 28-29 cm when unfolded); knit 5 repeats to create a tall, slightly slouched crown (31-32 cm).

Blocage humide
For washing such a hat, use a detergent for knitwear without lanolin, such as Hollywool. Create a slightly warm soapy solution and immerse the item in the water. The item should soak completely. Gently squeeze the hat in the water and rinse with clean running water. Let excess water drip off, do not wring or twist, and do not lift by the edges when wet.
Gather the item in your hands, lay it out carefully on a towel, and shape it as desired. Roll the hat a couple of times together with the towel and press out the excess water, then reshape it on a dry towel and leave it to dry completely while maintaining the desired shape.
