Work Progression
Casting on stitches: With the working yarn, leaving about 25-30 cm from the edge, cast on 24/28/28 stitches (12/14/14 stitches on each needle) with a provisional cast-on using Judy’s Magic Cast-On method.
Toe: Knit one setup row in knit stitches. Then make increases on both needles as described. After all the toe increases rows, the number of stitches should be: 48/56/64 stitches.
Foot: Begin knitting the foot. Reset the row count. Introduce the pattern on the top (front) side of the foot. The bottom side – all stitches are knit. Patterns are described for each size.
Gusset: Move on to knitting the gusset. Make increases as indicated in the table for each size, doubling the stitches on the second needle (or needles 3 and 4 for double-pointed needles).
Heel: Worked on the second needle (needles 3 and 4 for double-pointed needles). Detailed instructions for dividing stitches and shaping the heel are provided.
Leg: Introduce the pattern on the back part of the golf socks, repeating the knitting scheme of the front part. Knit to the required height up to the calf widening place and make increases according to the schemes.
Finish the knitting with 12 rows of ribbing according to the pattern and bind off stitches with a needle to mimic a cast-on edge.
Wet-heat treatment
After finishing the work, weave in the ends and perform wet-heat treatment. Gently wash your golf socks in a solution of water and a special product such as Hollywool solid or liquid soap with lanolin. Remove excess water with a terry towel and lay the golf socks on a dry, horizontal surface in a ventilated room away from heat sources.
