Techniques and Skills

Instructions Overview
Begin knitting the hat with a provisional cast-on, then both parts are knitted separately from the beginning to the crown.
Two options for shaping the crown are offered: crown with 4 wedges or flat crown.
Cast on with a provisional or open cast-on: 72/80/88 stitches. Mark the beginning of the round and knit in stockinette stitch for the required number of rows according to size.
Switch to double-pointed or long circular needles for decreases.
Crown Height and Decrease Rows
- Wedge Crown Height: 6-7 / 7-8 / 8 cm (18-21 rows depending on size)
- Flat Crown Height: 10-11 cm (27-28 rows depending on size)
Crown with 4 Wedges
Markers are placed to divide the hat into four sectors for decreases. Decrease rows alternate with knit rows, following a specific pattern until completion.
Flat Crown
Fabric is divided into two equal parts with markers. Decreases follow a sequence until desired height is reached.
The Second Half of the Hat
Unravel the provisional cast-on, pick up stitches, and knit the second half similarly to the first. Weave in yarn tails before decreases as access will be difficult later.
Wet Heat Treatment
Soak the item in warm Hollywool soap solution without lanolin for 10-15 minutes, rinse gently, squeeze in towel without wringing, and dry flat stretched out. After drying, tuck the second part inside.
