Soft Silk is a yarn you can't help but fall in love with! Made from 100% bourette silk, it differs from traditional mulberry silk in both appearance and properties: it's matte and heterogeneous, with small inclusions and slight nap. While bourette silk might appear rough at first glance, resembling linen or cotton, knitting and wearing it is pure pleasure – it's incredibly soft and gentle to touch, with all its knots and inclusions being silky smooth rather than irritating, and the yarn itself is remarkably durable.

Bourette silk comes from the part of the mulberry silkworm cocoon that remains after extracting long fibers for mulberry silk production. These remnants contain the highest concentration of silk glue - the protein sericin. This silk thread is spun from short fibers, resulting in textured and dimensional yarn. Sericin in bourette silk possesses natural bactericidal properties, provides anti-inflammatory effects, soothes the skin, and ensures excellent air permeability. While sericin has a distinct scent, it completely dissipates with washing and wear.

Technical Specifications and Usage

Soft Silk comes in skeins of 350 meters per 100 grams. While the manufacturer recommends 3-3.5 mm needles, the yarn works excellently with 4 mm needles as well. Perfect for:
