Work Stages
1. Preparation of the button band (consists of two parts). Picking up stitches for the back along the side edge of the band.
2. Determining the turning points for short row knitting, knitting the yoke with simultaneous increases along the raglan lines.
3. Knitting to the undercuts while forming a V-neck. Separating the sleeves from the body of the cardigan.
4. Knitting the cardigan to the required length with simultaneous knitting of buttonholes.
5. Sleeves.
6. Blocking and buttons.
Knitting Notes
An oversized, cropped cardigan with an integral button band, knitted top-down in raglan shaping with turning rows. The yoke is shaped over the shoulders with short rows without cutting the yarn.
Used patterns: 1×1 ribbing (for the button band, bottom of the garment, and cuffs) and stockinette stitch (with turning rows).
Increases along the raglan lines are made from yarn overs by knitting them as twisted knit stitches. Buttonhole stitches are created without cutting the yarn on the right side of the band.
Washing and Buttons
Before washing, it is recommended to secure the front edges with thread (temporary stitches); do not attach buttons yet. Gently wash your garment in cold water with a special detergent, such as Hollywool solid or liquid soap. Rinse well, lightly squeeze out in a towel. Lay flat on a horizontal surface, straighten, and measure the garment with a tape measure. After drying, sew on the buttons.
